This year’s New York Comic Con featured a lot of unbelievable pieces of tech. Technology that managed to fuse impressive artwork. I got a rare opportunity to chat with one of my favorite folks, Mimoco, and got to find out what keeps them inspired as well as see the standouts in their MIMOBOT collection.
Mimoco is most commonly known for their unbelievable USB drives titled MIMOBOT. Often associated with renowned artists, MIMOBOT can be described as a vinyl toy with only the highest quality flash included within. They don’t settle for anything less! It all started out with a bunch of up and coming pop culture artists and later sprouted a community of artists. Everyone is able to download an online template to create a MIMOBOT of their own. Some might find the templates hard since they have a definite shape but some artists are up for the challenge. It’s always interesting to see the incredible line of artwork included with each USB drive whether well known or community created.
While anyone can just run into their local Staples, Best Buy and maybe even Costco, to pick up a USB drive; it’s impossible to say if they will have the same level of attachment that can be found with MIMOBOT owners. It’s easy to classify MIMOBOT owners as either collectors that might just keep their USB drives in it’s original packaging or even set them up around their home or office. Some owners might even be designers that want to stand out among their colleagues with their uniquely identifiable bot. The bottom line is that MIMOBOT owners are a different type of owner.
Take a look at their most popular line of USB drives: the Star Wars series. They are a most at almost every Con and the fans always ask to see their favorites like Yoda and R2D2. Mimoco even had some special editions within the series where fans were unable to identify which Star Wars character they were getting. The helmets were conveniently blank and the only way to know who you got was after opening the packaging and checking under the hood. Folks were so determined to figure out which character they were getting, that they started to measure the USB drives and would hold out until they found the figure they were looking for. While, it’s clearly certain which character you are getting nowadays, Mimoco still sells the hidden USB drives for those who love the element of surprise.
MIMOBOT are perfect for dads, grads, moms, girlfriends, boyfriends, or just about anyone with an artistic side. However, one thing is certain: Everyone who owns a MIMOBOT, becomes instantly attached. And it might not stop at just one either. So, why don’t you check out what the kind folks of Mimoco have to offer!
